Deleting your Shower Talk account

Last updated 31 August 2026

You can delete your Shower Talk account and everything in it at any time. You do not need to ask us, and you do not need to install anything to find out how.

In the app

  1. Open Shower Talk.
  2. Tap your profile icon, top right.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm twice. The second prompt is the last chance to stop.

It happens immediately. There is no waiting period, no grace period, and no undo.

If you no longer have the app

Email support@showertalk.app from the address the account uses, and ask us to delete it. We will confirm and then delete it, normally within a few days and always within 30 days.

We ask you to write from the account address because it is the only way we can tell it is your account. If you have lost access to that mailbox, tell us and we will find another way to verify you.

What gets deleted

Everything attached to the account:

  • your recordings held on our servers
  • your transcripts
  • every insight derived from them — summaries, themes, emotion scores, activities, thoughts
  • the people you have talked about, their names and the quotes about them
  • your conversations with the in-app assistant, and your goals
  • your notification settings and device tokens
  • the account itself, including your email address and password

Nothing is retained in a recoverable form once it is done.

What does not get deleted, and why

Recordings already on your phone. They live on the device, not on our servers. Deleting the app removes them.

Records we are required to keep. Payment and tax records held by Apple, Google or us to satisfy accounting law. These say that a purchase happened. They contain nothing from your journal.

Copies held by our analytics and crash-reporting providers. These hold an account number and coarse events — never transcripts, recordings or anything about the people in your life. Deletion of your account does not automatically purge them. If you want those purged too, say so in your email and we will do it by hand.

Your subscription is separate

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, and we cannot cancel it for you. Cancel it in your store account first, or you will keep being billed for an account that no longer exists:

  • Apple — Settings → your name → Subscriptions
  • Google — Play Store → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions

Before you go

If you want a copy of your transcripts, ask us before you delete. Once the account is gone we cannot recover it. There is no self-service export yet; email us and we will put your transcripts together for you.

For anything else: support@showertalk.app. Our privacy policy explains what we hold and why.
